Frequently Asked Questions.

The app shows a blur over the chat and I can’t use anything – why?

This is currently due to the beta version of watchOS 26. Apple has made changes that require adjustments on our side for Blaze to function normally again. We’re already working on a fix and expect the issue to be resolved before the official release of watchOS 26 (scheduled for mid-September 2025).

What is Blaze Messenger?

Blaze Messenger is an Apple Watch app developed and published by VoiceBeam GmbH. It lets you use WhatsApp directly from your Apple Watch - send and receive messages, access your chat history, and chat one-on-one (group chats are coming in a September 2025 update). Blaze Messenger also works without your iPhone (as long as your Apple Watch has an active internet connection).

Blaze is an independent app and is not affiliated with WhatsApp or Meta Platforms, Inc.

Is Blaze Messenger free?

You can use Blaze Messenger for free, though some features are limited. A detailed comparison is available in the pricing table on our website.

The Pro version is available as a subscription for €2.99/month, purchased directly through the app on your Apple Watch or iPhone.

We’re also offering a limited-time pre-sale for a lifetime license at a one-time price of €19.99, available until the official Blaze Pro launch (expected September 1, 2025).

What’s the difference between the free version and Blaze Pro?

With the free version of Blaze Messenger, you can:
· Use WhatsApp on your Apple Watch
· Send & receive messages
· Get Blaze notifications
· Use the voice assistant up to 5× per day
· Access 2 chats
· Open Blaze via a Watch Face complication

Blaze Pro gives you everything above, plus:
· Unlimited use of the voice assistant
· Unlimited access to all chats
· Watch Face complications with direct chat shortcuts
· Start new chats directly from your watch
· Cellular connection - completely independent from your iPhone
‍
We continuously expand Blaze Pro. Upcoming features include:
· Enhanced voice assistant with custom settings
· Sticker support
· Live location sharing
· WhatsApp calls

How do I connect my WhatsApp account?

1. Install Blaze Messenger on your Apple Watch. When you open the app, a QR code will appear on the screen.
2. On your iPhone, open WhatsApp, go to Settings > Linked devices, and tap "Link device"
3. Scan the QR code on your Apple Watch using your iPhone’s camera.
4. Once connected, a green checkmark will appear on your watch.

How does Blaze Messenger work?

Blaze Messenger consists of three components:
‍
· An Apple Watch app (Blaze Messenger)
· An optional iPhone app to manage your WhatsApp connection
· A web service that links Blaze Messenger with WhatsApp

Blaze Messenger is currently available only for iOS and watchOS. Other platforms are not yet supported.

Which messaging services does Blaze Messenger support?

Currently, Blaze Messenger supports only WhatsApp. We plan to add more platforms in the future (Facebook Messenger, Instagram DM, Telegram, etc.).

Can I use Blaze Messenger for group chats?

The current version supports only one-on-one chats (as of August 2025). Group chats will be added in a September 2025 update.

What WhatsApp features are currently supported?

Currently supported:
· Sending/receiving text messages
· Recording/listening to voice messages
· Viewing photos
· Sending/receiving emojis
· Emoji reactions
· Replying to specific messages
· Deleting sent messages

Features like calls, location sharing, disappearing messages, polls, and creating group chats still require the WhatsApp iPhone app. For feature requests, email us at contact@blazemessenger.com

How does Blaze Messenger handle WhatsApp notifications?

If Blaze notifications are enabled on your Apple Watch, you’ll receive Blaze notifications directly on your watch whenever a new WhatsApp message arrives. If you’re not wearing your watch, you’ll get standard WhatsApp notifications on your iPhone.

With poor internet connections, you may receive duplicate notifications - one from Blaze Messenger and one from WhatsApp.

Due to technical limitations, notifications can be delayed by up to ~15 seconds. You can reduce this to ~3 seconds by uninstalling the Blaze Messenger iPhone app, which routes delivery directly to the watch.

Blaze notifications can be turned on or off in the app settings at any time.

Why do I need to reconnect to WhatsApp sometimes?

The most common reasons are:
· Security timeouts - WhatsApp occasionally ends all Web sessions for security reasons.
· WhatsApp updates or reinstalls - Updating, reinstalling, or restoring WhatsApp on your phone will end the Blaze connection.
· Account or device changes - Switching phones, changing your number, or re-verifying your account will log out all linked devices.
· Rare resets - Sometimes WhatsApp resets many sessions at once after backend updates.
‍
That said, you should only need to reconnect Blaze very rarely (at most every few months). If it happens more often, please contact us at contact@blazemessenger.com.
‍
When this happens, simply scan the QR code in Blaze Messenger to reconnect.

I’m not getting standard WhatsApp notifications on my iPhone - why?

When Blaze notifications are enabled, WhatsApp may not show notifications on your iPhone lock screen. This is because Blaze tells WhatsApp the message was already read on your watch.

If you still want these notifications on your iPhone:
1. In Blaze notification settings, enable both Blaze notifications on your watch and “Show WhatsApp notifications on iPhone.” (This will result in duplicate notifications on your watch.)
2. In the Apple Watch app on your iPhone, disable the original WhatsApp notifications for the watch.

Blaze notifications are delivered silently when Focus Mode is active - what can I do?

If you have any Focus Mode active on your Apple Watch, Blaze notifications may be delivered silently instead of buzzing your wrist, even if you’ve added Blaze to the list of allowed apps. This happens because Blaze is detected by watchOS as a Watch-only app, and Focus Mode might not sync the “allowed apps” setting correctly.
‍
Possible fix:
1. Install the Blaze Messenger iPhone app in addition to the Watch app.
2. In your Focus Mode settings, add the iPhone app of Blaze (instead of the Watch app) to the allowed apps list.

This often resolves the issue. The behavior of Focus Mode is fully controlled by Apple, so there’s no way for us to change it directly, but this workaround has worked for other users.

Does Blaze Messenger change my WhatsApp Online Status?

Yes. When linked, Blaze currently sets your online status to “Nobody.” This is due to how Blaze notifications are delivered and synced with WhatsApp.

If you don’t want your online status changed, disable Blaze notifications in the settings - but note that you won’t receive Blaze notifications for new messages.

Why can I not access my full chat history?

For performance reasons, chat history length is currently limited. We’re working to expand access so you can view your full history.

Why can I not see all of my contacts?

Blaze Messenger currently shows your 15 most recent contacts (including groups) for performance reasons. We’re working to increase this limit.

Why aren't all my messages synching?

Possible reasons:
· Weak or no internet connection - make sure your Apple Watch is online.
· Temporary issues - restarting the app usually helps.
‍
To restart Blaze Messenger:
· Double-click the Digital Crown
· Swipe Blaze Messenger away
· Reopen the app

What happens to my data when I use the Blaze voice assistant?

Blaze uses OpenAI’s services for it's voice assistant. When you use Blaze voice assistant, your speech is processed by OpenAI. To understand context, your last few messages may also be sent to OpenAI servers.
‍
Important:
· Your data is not stored.
· It’s not used to train AI models.
· It’s used only to process your request.
‍
Neither OpenAI nor Blaze Messenger stores dictation content.

Is Blaze Messenger secure?

Yes. Privacy and security are top priorities. We use advanced encryption to protect your chats and secure all connections. When using the voice assistant feature, parts of your chat are processed on secure servers for processing - without storage or training use.

For more details see our Privacy Policy.

We collect certain device information needed for functionality: OS, hardware type, public IP addresses, network routing details, the installed Blaze Messenger version, and other relevant device settings.
